Feedback Thoughts

I really like the articles. I am one of those people that if I am not immediately good at anything I get discouraged and am like this is not worth my time. Like in this class I am no ones story teller like at all so I think I get a little anxious when I look at the class work and try to hold it off as long as possible. But I think trying the REBS method that the "5-second" article mentioned will be great for me cause the moment something goes south for me I am hands off but if I can break down the assignments into small parts and give myself a reward then I know it want be as bad as I am making myself feel. But I am also not one to congratulate myself for doing this that I am supposed to do, we don't applaud fish for swimming. So why should I applaud myself as a student for doing my work is my rational. In the article of the "Seven Ways" the very first thing it says is to not compare itself to others but that's very hard to do. Especially when they are work...

Topic Brainstorm

I think one of the reasons I choose to look into Karma was because everyone talks about Karma but I don't think everyone knows how much bigger Karma is. Than what people usually say it is and it could explain why bad things happen to 'good' people which can really give a story depth to me. I think using Rahu in a creation story would be an interesting take on how night came to be. I love creation stories something about making nothing into something really makes it feel like your own story. I also think this is great because I can add aspects of astrology into the story which is a very hot topic at the moment. Or I could take a completely different route with Rahuketu and his influence on humans. Basically this gives me a lot of material to make a very unique story. In one of the Yama stories it is said that he is the first man to have died and I think it would be an interesting take to see how the gods handle the one of their first human creations and how he became Yam...

Week 2 Story: The Rabbit and Fox

Image
There once was a group of ten young rabbits, nine of them as meek as they come but one was as bold as the sun was hot. The group of rabbits had been told by their elders that when the fox was near that they must be quieter than the mice next door. The elders never told them why they must be quiet but their was a fox that always wandered near because he knew that many small animals lived in that area and one day he would have a great feast before winter came. Everyday right as the sun would awaken the fox would set out with his ear to the ground and his body crouching real low until he blended in with the forest floor. On this particular day the elders had set out to gather supplies and left the ten young rabbits alone. They were under strict instructions not to make a peep. The young rabbits grew tired of the silence and started to play a game. They played and played and the nine meek rabbits were very quiet but when the one rabbit that was bolder than the sun would win he would le...

Reading Notes Anthology

I am actually not very fond of animal stories. I am not to sure if its because they are supposed to portray humans and have human like qualities, so I don’t really understand why there is a need to use animals and I also read a lot of stories with animals in them as a child. So maybe it feels like I never grew up from the lessons you are supposed to learn when your parents tell the story. I guess what I am getting at is that I shouldn’t have to read stories that teach if I am old enough to know better. Among the stories I really like the turtle and the geese. I think I identified with the turtle because if someone says something I don’t like, I AM GOING TO RESPOND, no matter who they are. That sometimes gets me into trouble like a lot and sometimes it is better to keep quiet than respond. Kind of like the saying, ‘It’s better for them to think you are stupid than open your mouth and confirm it.’ Which now that I am older I do know that it is sometimes better not to respond. T...

Week 2 Reading Overview

The main reason I choose the free domain because its mostly online and I don't have to go searching for it and I can access it on my phone at work or on the go which makes it really convenient for me especially since I don't take my back pack to work but my phone is always on me. The reason I choose the Ganga comic was because the comic book cover reminded me of a Greek mythology story how how one of the goddess's was born from Zeus's head and I like to make connections on stories because it helps me remember stories better. I then chose Shiva Parvati because I like to see how love stories are portrayed in different cultures. Is it similar to American culture or do that always have happy endings like in fairy tales.  For the videos I love food so when I see something about food I am more than likely inclined to click it and see what type of food will be mentioned. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw butter and I'm not sure why but it was probably because that is a...
