Introduction to a Hot Mess

About Me

I am a Capricorn, born on January 11th. I am currently majoring in Biology. After undergrad I will be getting my masters in HR and then going to medical school.
Talking about myself so I asked my family and friends to describe me.
I love to cook, I played soccer in high school and also ran cross country. I did this horrible thing where I decided to take Latin as my language of choice. I still have mixed reviews about it. I am obsessed with candles especially citrus and fresh cotton or laundry smells. I unfortunately am not a trust fund baby so with that being said I work at Walgreen's and I used to be a resident advisor. I have just recently picked up a job bar-tending. I love my friends like they are my family. I love to dance. I am also a Christian. I don't particularity like going out much. I am a twitter addict. Hard -working and goal oriented. I LOVE children but am or may not want one. My sister thinks that I am loving, caring, very caring, compassionate, smart, motivated, encouraging and assertive. But just like everyone has great qualities and not so great. My not so great qualities are that I can be very blunt, can be moody, have a smart mouth and she isn't to sure where I get my attitude but I can't lie its the truth. I have also been described as nonchalant and also very funny. I get told I should be a comedian many times. I am a goofball. I am also very loyal and very independent and my friends tell me that I am reliable. I think I am also very social even though I am an introvert and look very approachable ( strangers always tell me personal things) . I am very passionate about my future. I also tend to go above and beyond for people even when I know they wouldn't do it for me. I have been told that I am charismatic and always speak my mind no matter what and stick to my values. I have recently started anime and I love Rick and Morty and have seen all the seasons multiple times. Also orange juice over apple juice any day.

  1. Hey Justdacia, It is a great pleasure to meet you. I remeber when I was a freshman entering college I was Pre med biology student myself too but Chemistry was my weed out it takes so much time and commitment.I am so excited to get to know you more because I myself am a soccer fan I am originally from UK and there can be no one more proud than me. I am a great fan of the Manchester United as I have seen them since I grew up. I am happy to know you are a very reliable person I think I might as well tell you some of my secrets just to get it off my chest, hoping you would keep it a secret lol.

  2. Hi Justdacia, nice to meet you. I also really love to cook! That's so interesting that you took Latin. I took Spanish because I took it in high school so I already had a bit of foundation. That's interesting that you say that you're an introvert but also approachable, because I feel like strangers tell me personal things too. It's so strange, isn't it? A person I don't know will speak to me and suddenly they're telling me their life story. I can also be VERY blunt. It's strange because I normally consider myself a pretty empathetic person, but I'm also very honest and so when a person gets on my nerves it's like my empathetic side shuts down and I speak what I feel is the truth with no sugarcoating whatsoever. It's cool to meet another person like that.

  3. Hey Dacia... or, should I say: Capricorn! I am a Pisces. And India has its own astrology; maybe you will want to play around with that for this class; the equivalent of Capricorn is Makara, which is this sea crocodile that the goddess Ganga rides (very cool!), but Pisces is the same: fishes in Indian astrology. If you are curious, you can read about that here: Hindu Astrology - Jyotisha... and, oh my gosh, I am so excited when I meet Latin students. I used to teach Latin at OU but the way I taught Latin was just a little too weird for OU, ha ha, so I no longer teach Latin, but I do have a Latin blog: Bestiaria Latina: you will not be surprised to see Latin LOLcats there. Before growth mindset cats, there were Latin LOLCats. And..... RICK AND MORTY: I learned about that show for the first time thanks to a brilliant Storybook last semester; did you see this project yet? Reincarnations of the Smith Family ... it's a Rick-and-Morty-meets-Indian-Epics mash-up. Maybe you will want to do some Rick and Morty stories this semester of your own! Anyway, I hope you will have fun with the class. You might get hooked on Indian Twitter. I sure have! India is so big... and Twitter is so big in India! Which means it is BIG. :-)

  4. Hi Dacia! I ran cross country in high school, too. I was never very good at it, but I loved the team atmosphere, and I always had a lot of fun (when I wasn't racing, that is). I took Spanish as my language in high school even though all my friends took Latin, and I loved it so much that I'm getting a Spanish minor. Most of my friends who took Latin loved it, too, and some still study it in college. Also: I 100% agree that orange juice beats apple juice, and I appreciate that uncompromising and absolutely true take.

  5. Hey Dacia! I think it's awesome that you're passionate about what you do. I think it's also super cool that you're taking Latin as a language. I've heard it's an interesting language to learn (which I'm sure you know much better than me) but I think it's cool how Latin applies to so many different languages and the English language as well. I also love Rick and Morty though I've only watched the show once.I do have to say though: Apple juice beats orange juice.

  6. Hi Dacia! I loved your introduction, and I have to say I totally relate on so many levels. Latin is required by my major, Letters, and I am also reluctant to recommend it as it is so challenging and (unfortunately) so useless in the real world. Your comment about candle scents made me realize that we probably all have favorites, but so rarely are we ever given an opportunity to share it! I personally like beach-related smells and also this specific Bath and Body Works Christmas one called "winter." It sounds like all of your qualities are assets, even your "attitude" of being assertive is another way to say you have leadership skills! Though your major is Biology/Pre-Med, given your interest in the (very imaginative) show Rick and Morty I bet you can unleash that creative inspiration in this class when writing stories!

  7. Hello Justdacia, it is nice to make your acquaintance and learn a bit about you! What made you decide to choose to go for a masters in HR? Latin that is an interesting decision. Did you want to suffer a bit while studying? If so that it is the way to go. I love how you are an outgoing person! Rick and Morty is one of my favorite shows!!

  8. Hi Dacia! I like that you asked your family to describe you, I feel like I learned a lot about you! I love that you included your favorite candle smells. I think you can tell a lot about a person based on what scents they like. You listed being blunt as a not so great quality, but I think that is such a great quality; there is way too much sugarcoating in our society today, so it’s always refreshing to have raw honesty. You seem like a very caring and passionate person and it sounds like you are going to be a great addition to the medical field!

  9. Hi Justdacia! So I'm fascinated with this orange juice / apple juice hot take. First off, I wasn't aware that it was an either/or situation with these beverages. What happens if you like both? Is that allowed? So much to ponder...

You plan for college sounds interesting and bold. Getting a masters and going to med school is definitely an ambitious choice. Good luck with everything! I hope it all works out well for you.

  10. Hey Justdacia!
I am technically a Leo on the cusp of Virgo...can I go with Virgo anyways? I don't have many Leo traits...It's confusing to me. What a cool twist in degrees, i've looked into HR but never considered biology or medschool for myself. It's so neat you have the passion for it. Yikes, I dated a guy that took Latin, I tried to stay safe and went with french..that was hard enough. Those are also my go to scents! I also am not a trust fund baby, but could you imagine if we were? No? Me neither. How is bartending?! that's something that has always intrigued me. I'm an introvert too and didn't know how well those things would mix. Oh dang, starting a juice debate. Can I be equal opportunity depending on my mood?

  11. Hi Dacia, nice to meet you! I think your introduction was really cool and allowed me to learn a lot about your personality. I noticed your part about being a twitter-addict and I feel the exact same way. I get on twitter an unhealthy amount of time. I also love the same candle smells that you mentioned. Nothing better than a laundry scented candle being lit after the house is clean.

  12. Hi Dacia!
So about this Latin class....do you think it will help you with medial school? I took nursing my first go around in school and there were a lot of terms that were Latin based as far as diseases and anatomy related things. Hopefully it will come in handy further on down the road for school!
Also, don't give up on kids just yet. I NEVER wanted kids. I actually hated most children (I know, I'm a terrible person). But I have two of my own now and they are best things that have ever happened to me. Still not a fan of most other people's kids, but mine are of course, amazing!
OJ over apple everyday! That made me laugh that you threw that in there at the last minute. But I totally agree. Apple juice is nothing but sugar water! And depending on the brand, is bland and gross!
It was "nice to meet you". Have a great semester!

  13. Hey Dacia! I thought it was interesting that you are a biology major that intends to get a master's degree in HR and then go to medical school. It's crazy how many paths there are with careers, and I had never thought of HR as a medical related degree but it makes sense now that I think about it. Latin does sound very tough, but maybe it'll help with scientific names along your educational path. Also, apple juice definitely beats orange juice.

  14. Hi Dacia and fellow Capricorn! Latin sounds so cool, but I definitely understand having mixed feelings about it. I took Japanese and I love it, but it’s complicated. I absolutely agree with you about orange juice over apple juice. Orange is the superior juice! You sound like a very fun person! I wish you the best of luck this semester!

  15. Hey Dacia! Nice to meet ya. Clean cotton is absolutely the best candle smell, it's my go-to for sure. I love that you asked your family for their own thoughts on how they'd describe you--it's always fun to see what other's perspectives are. It sounds like you work really hard and know what you want for your future path which is really exciting, good for you!

  16. Hey Dacia! I like that you have a thing for candles because I do also and my roommates always make fun of me when I buy another candle and bring it home. However, I will have to agree with you on the citrus scents but the clean cotton I can not get behind. I also am a part time working student so I feel you on that part of having to go to school and work at the same time. I find it a common theme almost here in Norman when you talked about picking up bar-tending. Because I find that most of the bar-tenders here in Norman are not ones to really go out much and there is a handful of them don't even drink socially or even at home, so I found it interesting when you said you weren't one to go out much.

  17. Hey Dacia!

So I have been meaning to comment on your introduction for awhile, but just got around to it. You commented on mine saying that you think you know me and I will admit I was a little offended! You and I did have an interview last semester where we talked about the black face on campus and we also had a photo shoot together. We even knew each other before then though. I first met you through Dallas and Marcus who were on my friends intramural teams. I also worked in Adams as a desk assistant when you were an RA and we talked and joked around all the time. I still listen to "I don't even know why though" by Alina Baraz that you showed me. I hope this jogs your memory of me because you are awesome! You are also in my Pathogenic class. Next time I see you I will tell you to look at this comment!

  18. Hi, Dacia! I love your introduction title! I totally relate!! How do you like bar-tending? I have always wanted to do that. I just think it sounds like it would be super entertaining and I think it would be fun to make all of those fun drinks! I totally get being social, but also an introvert. My mom has the same thing where strangers always tell her personal things, so I get that too. You must have a delightful presence about you for people to trust you so quickly!

  19. Hi Dacia, I was going to say that you have good taste with Rick and Morty but then saw you prefer orange over apple juice which is super wrong. If you like Rick and Morty, I recommend watching Big Mouth. How is bartending? I feel like in my head it would require a ton of effort to keep your head when dealing with drunk people, but I guess that's not always the case! It also seems that not going out much might be a hard trait to manage when you work at a bar! Still, it sounds like you live an interesting life!
